Mourning gatherings continue in France

DUBLIN, Ireland: Dublin's Islamic Cultural Center has planned to translate the holy Quran into the Irish language. Leslie Carter, a spokeswoman for the Center said on Tuesday the ICC is working on a translation plan with Foras na Gaeilge, set up under Northern Ireland's 1998 Good Friday accord to promote the Irish language all over the island.
"The plan to translate the Quran is in its early stages … It will be a lot of work and it will probably be a year before it is finished."
Ireland is home to about 18,000 Muslims; roughly 12,000 of them live in the capital city of Dublin.

The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has distributed sacrificial meat for the year 1423 AH valued at SR 127,312 in Pakistan, including in camps where Afghan refugees are housed. Numerous poor and needy families benefited from the distribution, according to WAMY’s Assistant Secretary-General (Makkah Region), who gave a breakdown of the animals slaughtered for the purpose, and added that WAMY has several other relief programs in these camps.

The Shari’a Society of Egypt has built five Shari’a Institutes in various parts of the country, at a total cost of EP 600,000, according to D. Fouad Ali Mukhaimir, president-general of the Society, who added that the Society was founded way back in 1912, and so far has built 11 such institutes.
He said those students who are from foreign countries are given free boarding and lodging facilities and books are made available to them at concessionary prices. He went on to say that in 2002 the Society built 49 new mosques in various parts of the country, thus making a total of 10,049 mosques since the Society was founded.
Dr. Mukhaimir said that the Society is also taking care of 400,000 orphans, of whom 50,000 are orphans from other countries, but living in Egypt, of who half are from Palestine.
