Greece: First Islamic activity of its kind held

Athens, March 9 (IINA)

For the first time ever, Muslims inGreece have initiated a Da’awa caravan that visited several towns and villages, and also organized a Holy Qur’an Contest, in addition to holding congregational Eid-ul-Adh’ha at the sports stadium here. The prayers were attended by thousands of Muslims and were given substantial coverage by the local media. There are eight mosques in Athens alone, and the Greek authorities have been cooperative with the Muslim community.

Turkmenistan: New mosque to be built

Ashgabat, March 9 (IINA)

The Government of Turkmenistan has decided to build a large mosque near Kibshak, which was once an important center of Islamic learning, and is situated not far from here. The mosque would be built on traditional Islamic architectural designs, on an area of 8,000 square meters.

Moscow airport now has mosque

Moscow, March 9 (IINA)

Moscow’s international airport, Dumodirov, recently witnessed the opening of a mosque. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior government officials, in addition to a number of Christian and Muslim leaders. The mosque is an added facility for passengers, including transit passengers, who use the airport, and has an area of 230 square meters. The airport was built way back in 1946.

Austria: Salzburg University has Islamic faculty

Cairo, Mar 9 (IINA)

Dr. Friedrich Slentzer, Dean of theCollege of Religious Studies at the Salzburg University here has said that the college has a Faculty for Islamic Studies, which, at the moment, has 350 Muslim students. He told IINA that the Faculty has a staff of 60, of who ten are from the Azhar, plus one fromSaudi Arabia, one from Sudan, and one from the UAE, and added that he has made a request to the Azhar for more teaching staff.

Husaini Majalis continue in Greece

Maulana Syed Qalb-e-Abbas (England) and Allama Shahid Abbas (Amra Kalan) address majalis in Urdu, which began on Muharram 1 and will continue till Muharram 10, at 7:00 PM at Azakahana-e-Gulzarezainab Dimitras-1 Piraeus 18540, Greece.
